A5 Type Mandolins

This are two A5 Type Mandolins wich I'm making simultaneously. They are slightly different as one will have a central sound hole where the other will have 2 F holes. For the rest both have figured Sapele back and sides from the same board, European spruce top logged in England, all blocks, bracing a and kerfing are cut from a log of willow cut from a tree 5 miles down the road. Will spot a Benedetto style tail piece made of Snakewood, fret board, bridge and all bindings will be in Snakewood as well.

Second body
First mandolin is finished and sounds fantastic. Great playability as well and it looks just great.
The second is following slowly but proceeds well

3/4 size electric guitar

The lucky recipient of this instrument will be my 3 years old son. It will probably be a present for his 4th birthday in November. Made of trimms and bits of wood left over. 8 pieces mahogany body, 5 splices neck willow/mahogany/maple/mahogany/willow with a steel bar instead of the truss rod. Will spot locking tuners, a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker pick up, fixed bridge strat type with strings through body. Probably purple to green crush colour. I look forward to give it to my little rockstar :)

All done. This is the lucky young guitarist

Classic

I call this the classic. First take on it, it's a standard tele body shape but with comfort cuts like a strat with a 25" scale length neck shped with a sharp V at the head stock end smoothening to a soft V by the7th fret. It falls really well into your hand when playing open chords and feels fast and comfortable mid and higher neck. The body wood is Iroko and the neck one piece Wenge with Snakewood head stock veneer and filler piece at the back. Neck oil finish with 22 Jumbo frets. Pick ups on this one are Seymour Duncan hot rails mini humbaker with coil tap on the bridge and quarter pound on the neck. Both pickups are quite hot but both retain a very good clarity and the quarter pound a very warm and round tone. Almost finished now, just a bit of setting up then for sale at £1200 retail price. As usual artist price available

Hand painted by Miriam Paternoster

The guitars posted on this are hand painted by the very talented Miriam Battocletti, Italian artist and art teacher. Take a minute to look into her web site www.artescuola.com you will enjoy it :)
